Ho fans cut all night celebration short

Ho, July 3, GNA – Soccer fans in Ho on Friday night cut short their anticipated celebration of the victory of the Black stars followed the unexpected loss of the national team to Uruguay.

The Black Stars loss in a penalty shoot out to Uruguay in the quarter finals of the FIFA 2010 World Cup underway in South Africa. Most of the fans had planned an all night celebration awaiting a good finishing but had to retire to bed earlier than planned.

Scores of policemen deployed to ensure safety and moderate celebration were jobless as there was no crowd to control.

Unlike the previous wins of the Black Stars where drinking spots were filled with fans, this time around, the spots where virtually empty. The streets were empty, no vuvuzelas were cited while the national flag was not too visible.

Atta Mensah Efuh, 30, who claimed he had betted 100 Ghana cedis with a Sierra Leonean friend, could not hold back his tears following the loss. There was a general state of gloom in town as few people discussed the match in corners. 3 July 10
