Ho DCE inaugurates area, town and urban councils

Ho, Oct. 22, GNA – The Ho District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Mawutor Goh, on Tuesday called on Area, Town and Urban Councils to establish good relations with district assemblies to facilitate effective revenue mobilisation and development.

He made the call at the inauguration of the 21-member Ho Urban Council under the chairmanship of Mr Gershon Klutse, a Security Officer of the Electricity Company of Ghana.

The DCE said Ghana could not develop by depending on revenue agencies such as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) to finance development. He urged Area, Town and Urban councils to supplement efforts by evolving effective strategies of collecting levies.

Mr Goh asked members of the council to ensure sanitation and beautification of the area by spearheading tree and flower planting along the roads.

Mr Klutse expressed the willingness of the members to work to expectation and urged the public to present their problems to the Urban Council before going to the District Assembly.
