Ho Clergy expresses shock at Kamel’s death

The clergy in Ho, Volta Regional capital, has expressed utter dismay and shock at the demise of Mr Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister.

The late Kamel last two weeks met leadership of the clergy in the region, and tasked it to plan a thanksgiving service to appreciate God for seeing Ghana through peaceful and successful elections.

At that meeting, he urged the clergy to organize the event early enough so that “God does not get angry”.

Right Reverend Francis Amenu, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ho that the death of Kamel was “a great shock”.

Rt. Rev Amenu, said the late Kamel, who was also Member of Parliament for Buem, and retained the seat in the 2012 parliamentary polls, was brilliant and worked with passion and commitment, which endeared him to the hearts of many people.

Rt. Rev. Amenu said though the late Kamel served only for a few months as Volta Regional Minister, “his good deeds made him someone people cannot forget.”

He recounted the late Kamel’s role in ensuring peace during the Gbi-Zongo communal clash at Hohoe, and said, “his deeds will continue to blossom for others to learn from. He worked hard, and I pray that God grants him a very warm place to rest”.

GNA has reliable information that all is set for the thanksgiving service on Sunday, December 30, at the OLA School compound.

It is, however, not clear if the event would be re-scheduled.
