Accra, May 26, GNA – The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Ludwig Akpene Hlodze, has asked investors on the African continent to cede at least 35 per cent of shares in their businesses to indigenous African entrepreneurs.
This, he said, would enable African businesses to expand and plough back their profits into economic growth, wealth and job creation on the continent.
A statement issued in Accra by the Youth Wing of the Party said Mr Hlodze was speaking at a two-day Africa-China Young Leaders Forum in Windhoek, Namibia, on the theme: “Friendship, cooperation and Development.”
Contributing during a panel discussion on the theme: “The Role of the Media in shaping Africa-China Relationship” on the second day of the conference, he stated that the media should be interested in informing policy makers and the public on the progress and failures of agreements entered into by China and African states to assess whether we stand to benefit as individual nations and as a continent.
“We are trusting China at this point, but equally cautious of the fact that we would not be found wanting as a people, after we have ceded many of our natural resources to China as in many partnership agreements that are on-going on the continent,” Mr Hlodze said.
He also called on China to partner with African media in equipment, broadcast technology and human resource training opportunities to enhance the output and competitiveness of the media in Africa and on the international front.
The conference was organized by the Communist Party of China for youth leaders of like-minded political parties across the continent.
It was jointly opened by the Namibian President Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba and Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee, National People’s Congress (Speaker of China’s Parliament), People’s Republic of China.
