HIV/ Aids patients are victims, rather than culprits

The Deputy Municipal Coordinating Director for Nsawam-Adoagyri, Mr Michael Agyei, has called on Ghanaians to see those infected with HIV as victims rather than culprits and support them to live longer.

He said Ghana has achieved a lot in response to the threat of HIV, however much more needed to be done for the country to achieve the target of zero new infections.

Mr Agyei therefore charged all to work harder in order to attain the ultimate target of an HIV free generation.

He was speaking at the observation of the World AIDs Day in the in the district at Nsawam.

Mr Agyei further advised the youth to eschew the act of alcoholism, drug abuse and all forms of sexual immorality to avoid contracting HIV.

Ms Mamata M. Sheriff, HIV Focal Person for the Nsawam Adoagyeri Municipality, said, Ghana is sited among 22 high HIV prevalence countries to have reduce their rate by 76 percent.
