HIV/AIDS awareness campaign at Mpasaso community

Mpasaso (Ash), Oct 15, GNA- Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself Club, a Community-Based Organisation (CBO), in collaboration with the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC), has organized an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign for the people of Mpasaso in the Ahafo-Ano South District.

The participants, which comprised: farmers, artisans and religious groups, were taken through film shows and role- plays on the pandemic. Madam Amina Mohammed, the Midwife in charge of the Health Centre, who led the discussions, advised the people especially the youth to abstain from casual sex, which was one of the major channels through which one could get infected.

Mr. Asamoah Damoah, the Deputy District Coordinating Director, urged CBOs to intensify their campaign against the spread of the disease.

Mr. Daniel Boateng, Chairman of the Mpasaso Area Council, urged the people to take what they had learnt seriously to help halt the rising infection rate.
