In a front page story, the High Street Journal reports that the United States Department of Aviation and International Affairs, has introduced Ghana to its “Open Skies Policy”, whose main objective is liberalising the movement of national airlines, cargo and people without limitations of bilateral air services agreements which Ghana currently operates. The paper says under bilateral air services agreements, Ghana signs accords with countries indicating which of them she will fly to and the frequency of flights. According to the paper, the open skies policy is a measure by the American government to improve aviation safety, airport security and fostering growth of aviation services, especially between the United States and Africa. The policy is to give travellers a choice of the services they want and where they want them, says the High Street Journal.
