High Commissioner In Lusaka Hosts Abedi

Zambia became the second African country after Ghana to play host to Abedi “Pele”Ayew in his capacity as STANBIC bank Chief Ambassador, currently undertaking a tour of some selected countries to display the Orange African Confederation (AFCON) Trophy. The African Soccer Legend arrived in Zambia on Monday, 05 October, 09 for a three day visit.

On Wednesday, 07 October, 09, His Excellency Dr. William G. M. Brandful, High Commissioner of Ghana to Zambia entertained Abedi “Pele”Ayew, accompanied by representatives of CAF, Stanbic Bank, High Commission Staff and a cross-section of the Ghanaian Community in Zambia, to breakfast at the Residence. The occasion enabled all participants to assess the hugely positive impact the Trophy Road Show had made on the Zambian football scene, while exchanging views on Ghana’s ever growing stature as a Continental Power in football.

The AFCON Trophy will be fought for at the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola.

Abedi “Pele” Ayew and his entourage have since left Zambia for South Africa en route to the next African country on the AFCON Trophy Road Show. Attached is a picture of the “Maestro” and the High Commissioner and Staff, Ghana High Commission, Lusaka.
