High Commissioner hosts Black Stars in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa – H.E Albert Yankey, the Ghana High Commissioner to Ethiopia and his staff at the Ghana Mission in the East African country entertained members of the senior national team, the Black Stars to lunch at his residence on Saturday afternoon.

The High Commissioner who welcomed the team on arrival at the Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa last Thursday expressed his delight in hosting the players at his residence. He revealed his gesture was to ensure the Black Stars feel at home while they camp in the East African country in preparations towards next Friday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan in Omdurman.

The Ghanaian community mainly those working at the Africa Union headquarters, the United Nations Organisation and other international bodies were invited for the lunch.

Apart from hosting the team, the High Commissioner assured the team of his total support during their stay and has deployed three personnel to be with the team to make sure things are easily done for them.

Captain Asamoah Gyan on his part thanked H.E Albert Yankey for his kindness for getting them ‘local food’ (Ghanaian) far away Ethiopia and promised on behalf of his colleagues to win the match against Sudan next Friday.

Leader of delegation and member of the Black Stars management Committee, Mr. Felix Ansong on his part took turn to thank the players for their loyalty and response to camping saying many of them had just finished their league but ignored being with family to champion a national cause by joining camp.
