High blood pressure did not means too much of blood in the body

Apam (C/R), July 21, GNA – A nurse at the Apam Catholic Mission Hospital, Miss Riata Opoku Agyeman, has said high blood pressure did not mean one had too much blood in the body.

She said high blood pressure rather meant the force with which the heart pumped the blood into the body was greater than the usual force.

Miss Agyeman was addressing out-patients of the hospital on Tuesday on some causes and prevention of high blood pressure.

She said each and everyone was prone to the condition as one grew up, compelling the veins to work overtime.

Miss Agyeman called on patients to avoid the consumption of alcoholic beverages, too much of salt and fatty foods.

She appealed to aging people to watch out for signs of obesity, undertake regular exercise and avoid fatigue and headaches as well as watching abnormal heart beats.

She advised patients not to wait long after drugs prescribed to them had finished before reporting to their doctors.
