Hiawanwu Community complains about damaged school block

Hiawanwu (Ash), Sept. 26, GNA- The chief and people of Hiawanwu, a farming community in the Ejura/Sekyedumasi District of Ashanti, have expressed concern about the delay of the Assembly to rehabilitate the local primary school block which had its roof ripped off by a rainstorm. Mr Adam Mahamadu, Assemblyman for Hiawanwu told pressmen that though the six classroom school block had its roof entirely blown off by a rainstorm five months ago, the District Assembly failed to assist in its rehabilitation.

Mr Mahamadu was taking newsmen round the damaged school block at Hiawanwu on Thursday.

He said pupils had to sit under trees to learn while the district office of NADMO has provided a two-classroom pavilion for the school. Mr Peter Ndabugri, a teacher at the Hiawanwu local primary school also said the delay in rehabilitating the school has negatively impacted on enrolment of the school.
