HFC Bank cashier remanded for stealing

A Tarkwa circuit court has remanded Godwin Kwabena Ayisi, a 36 year-old cashier of the Asankrangwa branch of HFC bank into prison custody for allegedly stealing GH? 48,950 belonging to the bank.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear before the court on August 8. Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that after the bank closed on May 19, after its normal banking hours, the accused asked for permission to travel to Accra and return on Monday June 23.

Detective Amponsah said the failure of Ayisi to report for work on the said date prompted an investigation, leading to the detection of the theft. He said a report was made to the financial unit of the bank and Ayisi was arrested and handed over to the police.
