Herdsman jailed 480 months for robbery

Kumasi, Dec. 8, GNA – Amadu Sambo, a Fulani and member of a robbery gang= , who blocked the Obuasi-Dunkwa Highway and robbed travellers of their mone= y and other valuables, has been jailed 480 months by a Kumasi Circuit Court= .. He denied the offence while his accomplices are on the run. Police Chief Inspector Collins K. Fosu told the Court presided ov= er by Mr Justice Amo-Yartey that Sambo and his colleagues mounted the operat= ion on July 24, 2008 at about 0100 hours. They used a piece of wood to block the highway at the Fenaso Junction, seized money, mobile phones and other items from travellers. Zenabu Suleni, who was on board a Mercedes Benz, 207 model passeng= er bus with registration number, AS 6971 N, was hit on the back by a bullet fired from the shot of Sambo and his group at the vehicle. One of the victims, a taxi driver, managed to escape to inform policemen on duty at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Obuasi. They quickly responded but when they got to the scene, the robbers=
