Herbert Addo’s family rejected him on his sickbed – Widow

The wife of late Coach Herbert Addo has shockingly revealed how the former Hearts of Oak manager was neglected by his family whiles on his sickbed.

Mrs Gloria Acquah Addo has been at the centre of vilifications and accusations from the late coach’s brothers and daughters who have accused her of deserting her sick husband.

However, in an interview with Antinka TV, Mrs. Addo debunked those assertions stating that it is the family who deserted their own.

According to her, whiles on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, the coach made countless appeals to his brothers to come to his aid but his pleas were ignored by the brothers.

“A doctor recommended that we take him to Cuba to expedite his healing so he ( Herbert Addo) made a call to his younger brother (Philip Addo) who had then sold portions of the family land for over GHC25 billion to come help him with some funds to aid him to travel to Cuba for healing but to the disappointment of the coach his brother never offered the help”, Mrs Acquah said amidst tears.

The comment by Mrs. Addo is in sharp contrast to an earlier claim by one of the coach’s brothers, Philip Addo who accused the British High Commission of denying the late coach a visa to England to seek medical attention.

She disclosed that due to the cold relationship that existed between the former Aduana Stars coach and his daughters, they did not shower him with the care and love he needed whiles on his sickbed.

Mrs. Addo revealed that on a countless number of occasions Herbert Addo’s brothers and daughters turned down pleas by their brother and father respectively to come to his aid.

Coach Herbert Addo was buried on Saturday 24th June in a burial ceremony that was marred by chaos and confusion over his place of interment.
