Herbalist remanded in prison custody for alleged human trafficking

Bibiani(WR), May 23, GNA – A Bibiani Magistrate’s Court presided over by Mr Dickson Daketsey, has remanded a 35-year-old herbalist, Mallam Adama Sakpana into prison custody for an alleged human trafficking.

The plea of Adama who pleaded not guilty was not taken and would re-appear on May 29.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court that, the accused lived at Sefwi-Adukrom near Bibiani with the victim, Ibrahim Mohammed, 20, who is his younger brother and both natives of Pusiga in the Upper East Region.

He said on May 18, this year, the accused contacted an informant to find market for the sale of a human being. The prosecution said the informant became interested in the deal and later informed the police at Bibiani, who arranged with the informant to bring both the victim and the accused for a prospective buyer.

He said the prospective buyer a policeman, lodged at Divine Lodge Hotel at Bibiani and during bargaining for the sale of the victim for GH¢5,000 they were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
