Herbalist in trouble for dishonesty

A 52 year-old Herbalist, Mallam Ibrahim, has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Tarkwa Circuit Court, for not beng able to refund a sum of GH¢11,250 entrusted into his care for safe keeping.

He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant, Edith Dzaka lived at Tarkwa- Banso in the same vicinity with the offender.

He said on November 20, last year, one Victor Adzameti gave the money for safe keeping.

Inspt Paddy said the complainant who could not guarantee the safety of the money as she was living in the same room with her sisters gave it to the convict and promised to collect it for the owner in three days.

The Prosecutor said on November 23 the complainant called on the convict and demanded for the money for Victor but he failed to produce it and traveled.

He said on December 7 the convict returned to the Tarkwa Banso community but all efforts made by the complainant to retrieve the money proved futile.

Inspector Paddy said the complainant made a report to the police and this led to his arrest and prosecution.
