Tamale, (Northern Region) 19, Sept. A 42 year-old herbalist from Gumbihini, a suburb of Tamale, has been arrested for sexually assaulting a 12 year-old girl. Saayunya Issahaku was arrested following a medical report submitted to the Tamale police by the Tamale regional hospital which had treated the profusely bleeding girl. Miss Sala Alhassan, a sister of the victim, told GRi at the Tamale police station today that the girl had been sent by her aunt, a traditional birth attendant, to collect medicine to treat a newly-born baby. A police spokesman said “we are carrying out further investigations” into the case.
