Herbalist donates to Volta Star Radio

Ho, April 19, GNA – Mr Agbesi Deglo, a Togolese herbalist, on Thursday donated a 120 million cedi four-unit office block to the Volta Star Radio, a local FM radio station in Ho. The herbalist also pledged to donate equipments and other communication gadgets worth 800,000 CFA to the station by June this year.

Making the presentation, Mr Deglo said his gesture was to promote the radio’s community service in appreciation of a sermon he heard on the station, which transformed him from “the world of darkness to light”.

He explained that he used to employ evil powers to destroy people and things and decided one day to commit suicide due to hardships he was going through but at the time of committing suicide, a presenter on air at the station at that time said some encouraging words which restored hope in him.

Mr Deglo said he then began to enjoy the services of the station whose programmes he said were educating, entertaining and devoid of politics.

The herbalist who has converted to Christianity was full of praise for the staff of the local FM station and said sermons by pastors who made presentations on the station were inspiring and urged people from the Region to support the work of the station. Mr Ralph Avornyo, Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, who doubles as the Director of the local FM station commended the efforts of Mr Deglo and appealed to politicians and businessmen in the Region to assist the station to attain its position as one of the best in the country.

He acknowledged the regular assistance of Mr Francis Agbotse, Member of Parliament for Ho West, who he said had been supporting the station in several ways. The Director promised the public quality service after the transformation and appealed for their assistance to acquire a generator to ensure regular service during power outages.
