Otoase-Marfukrom (E/R), May 17, GNA – Togbe Etse Agbottah, a 32-year-old herbalist, has cut the sod for the construction of a GH¢50,000 herbal centre at Otoase-Marfukrom in the Eastern Region to support the health delivery system in the area.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, Togbe Agbottah, who practices his herbal medicine at Anloga in the Volta Region, said the project was his personal contribution to prevent the people from travelling long distances to seek treatment for snake bites and cholera among others. He said the health centre would include an Out-Patient Department (OPD), male and female wards, dispensary, two boreholes and toilet facilities.
Togbe Agbottah said he had also acquired a land in Marfukrom for planting of herbal trees and seedlings.
He advised the people in the area to replace any tree they cut down as many of the trees such as odum, mohagany and cida were medicinal which could be used to cure many diseases.
Togbe Agbottah called on all herbal practitioners to register with the Ghana Traditional Healers Association so that they could team up to fight diseases.
