Hohoe, Dec.8, GNA – The Old Students Association of the Hohoe Evangelical Presbyterian Secondary school (HEPSSOSA) on Saturday presented items worth about 300 million cedis to the school as part of activities marking their homecoming.
The items included 11 computers with accessories, laboratory equipment, 35 typewriters, two trophies to be competed for in environmental cleanliness and science and mathematics quiz.
The Association also presented a quantity of books donated by Rotary Club of Tema to the school and visited the Hohoe Government Hospital, where it presented provisions to inpatients there.
Mr Simon Fefeti, President of HEPSSOSA, gave the assurance that the association would donate an additional 64 computers to the school next year to enhance teaching and learning adding that the association would continue to address problems facing the educational institution.
He said HEPSSOSA has made available 1,000 tree seedlings for planting along the boundaries of the school to prevent encroachment and appealed to individuals, non-governmental organisations (NGO)and the government to provide the school with a vehicle.
Mr Fefeti said: ” due to lack of accommodation for teachers, they are forced to walk or ride three kilometres to school and back everyday, they get tied and therefore, can’t perform well”
He commended the Parent Teacher Association for building a 300 million cedis science laboratory for the school.
Mr Joseph Honu, Headmaster of the school appealed to the Ghana Education Service and the Hohoe District Assembly to help re-roof two classrooms whose roofs were ripped-off by a rainstorm last October.
Pro-Link, an NGO, organised a HIV/AIDS awareness workshop to sensitise students on the disease as part of the homecoming activities.
