Help Work for Ghana presents to New Juaben

Koforidua, August 3, GNA – The Minister for Manpower Development and Employment, Mr Yaw Barimah, on Friday, cut the sod to mark the commencement of work on a 250-million-cedi computer centre for the people of New Juaben.

The project, which is expected to be completed in six months, would be funded from the Minister, and his share of the MP’s Common Fund. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Barimah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Koforidua, said it was necessary for the youth to be exposed to information technology systems in order to be able to face the challenges of the world.

He said his main motive for embarking on the project was on his conviction that, “we need to do today’s work with today’s tools” for a better development of the nation.

The Minister, however, said that some organisations have already been contacted and hoped to get the computers and its accessories for the centre as soon as the project is completed.

In a related development, Children Help Work for Ghana Association, a German-based Non-Governmental Organisation, had presented a set of furniture worth 20 million cedis to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to be distributed to needy schools in the Municipality.

Mr Lawrence Kom, Project Officer of the NGO said the presentation was in response to an appeal made to it by the Member of Parliament for Koforidua, Mr Yaw Barimah, to support schools in the area. He hoped the presentation would be put to good use to enhance the development of education in the area.

The New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Adjei Boateng, received the items and thanked the NGO for the gesture.
