Help me to receive all my entitlements – Witness

Accra, July 10, GNA – Mr Stephen Kofi Donkor, a former Chief Superintendent of Police, on Thursday appealed to the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) to assist him to collect all his entitlements after he was asked to go on compulsory retirement by the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) in September 1979. He said his retirement was based on alleged adverse findings a Committee of Enquiry against him that was later proved to be false. Mr Donkor said the Committee found nothing against him and his name was not in the report.

He said he was forcibly retired at 51 years when he had nine more years to serve adding that he would have attained the position of Deputy or Assistant Commissioner if he had served a full term. Mr Donkor, also known as Nana Danso Agyeman, Chief of Adonteng-Kuma and Chairman of the Accra Turf Club, prayed the Commission to ensure that he received justice by paying all his entitlements, including his leave and salary to commensurate with the position of a Deputy or Assistant Commissioner.

The Witness said he appealed to the Court of Appeal and the case was referred to the Abban Special Tribunal adding that he was found innocent.

He said despite a directive from the court on February 24, 1981 that he and his other colleagues, two of whom he identified as M. K. Adusah and Ms. Darkwa, should be reinstated to their original ranks, none of them was reinstated.

Mr Donkor said the education of his last two children was affected by his premature retirement, as he was not paid his salary.
