Mr Ken Atta-Boakye, a native of Hiawu-Besease in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to Government to help in constructing the bad roads of the area.
He said the roads if sorted could provide a short useful link from Mankranso to Nkawie without using the long Abuakwa circuitous route which often occurs on Wednesday during the periodic market held at Nkawie.
Mr Atta-Boakye made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
Hiawu-Besease is an ancient prosperous village that lies 12 miles South-West of Kumasi in the Atwima Nwabiagya Constituency.
The settlement is also a cocoa producing area noted for its abundant food supplies such as plantain, cocoyam, vegetables, kontomire, and cassava and market women from Kumasi often shuttle in for goods to trade.
He said the Middle School of the area established in 1945 serves various communities including Pasoro, Akropong, Ntensere, Mfensi, Adankwame, Askraka, Nkontomire, Afigya, Nerebehi, Afari, Mim, Sepaasi, Amoabin and Ahodwo.
He said notable individuals who started their childhood education in the area include former President John Agyekum Kufuor, B.F.Kusi, D. R. Ofei, GM Owusu, Kofi and Ken Atta-Boakye, John Owusu Ansah, Yaw Kwarteng and Dennis Adjei Brenyah.
Mr Atta-Boakye commended the Hiawu-Besease citizens in North America for taken it upon themselves to renovate the school and promote other development projects
He said currently, the community is beset with transportation problems due to a three-mile laterite surface road that takes off from Sepaase and extends for another two miles to link the Abuakwa –Mankranso main road.
He called on government to assist them in this regard.
