Accra Hearts of Oak have marked their 114th anniversary with a powerful message celebrating the club’s rich history, enduring legacy and renewed ambitions for the future.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the club reflected on its journey since 1911, when Hearts of Oak grew from its humble Accra origins into one of Africa’s most storied football institutions. The message highlighted more than a century of triumphs and challenges, including victories in the CAF Champions League, the CAF Super Cup and a period of dominance in the Ghana Premier League.
Management paid special tribute to the club’s supporters, describing them as the “lifeblood” of Hearts of Oak, whose chants and loyalty continue to inspire the team and uphold their famous creed: “Never Say Die until the bones are rotten.”
The statement also called for unity and professionalism among all stakeholders, emphasising that the club’s future depends on collaboration and a shared sense of purpose.
Hearts of Oak expressed gratitude to Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV for his leadership, noting that his vision has sparked renewed progress through major development projects, including the modernisation of training facilities and improved welfare systems for players.
As the club celebrates its 114th milestone, the message urged supporters to honour the achievements of the past while embracing the promise of the years ahead, describing Hearts of Oak not just as a football team but as a symbol of resilience and national pride.
