Hearts of Oak Coach Admits Shortcomings but Insists Defeat to Kotoko Was Undeserved

Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani says his side did not deserve their defeat in Sunday’s Ghana Premier League showdown, despite admitting that the Phobians fell short in key areas of their performance.

Speaking after the match, Dramani reflected on the 1-0 loss to rivals Asante Kotoko, describing the result as harsh based on the balance of play.

“We lost. I think we didn’t deserve to lose, in my opinion, and everyone who observed the game, not just watching,” he said. “We didn’t do well in some areas, and we need to improve. The game is over, we have learnt a lot from ourselves and the opponents.”

The match, played in front of a charged crowd at the Accra Sports Stadium, saw Hearts struggle to convert their spells of possession into meaningful threats, while Kotoko took their moment clinically to secure all three points.

Dramani, who has been vocal about instilling a more structured, possession-oriented approach at the club, stressed that the performance not just the result, would guide his team’s response in the coming weeks.

“We take the lessons, we correct the errors, and we move forward,” he added, signalling confidence that the Phobians will bounce back.

The defeat increases pressure on Hearts of Oak, who have faced a turbulent start to the season and continue to seek consistency in their campaign.
