coach Edward Odoom believes Accra Hearts of Oak’s defense is weak after the two
sides played out a 1:1 drawn game at the Tema Park last Wednesday.
The Tema
based scored dominated the game for long periods and exploited a defensive
lapse when striker Francis Narh who broke through the off side trap to coolly
slot in for the first goal in the 40th minute.
Though
Hearts leveled through Attakorah Gyimah in the second half, many fans were left
to rue the quality of the phobians back four made up of centre back paring of
Osei Bonsu and Nuru Sulley as well as left full back Seth Owusu and Emmanuel
Anson.
Speaking to www.liquidsportsghana.com, Tema
Youth coach Edward Odoom said he was impressed with Hearts of Oak’s attacking
play but adds that the defense looks shaky.
“They are a very
good side. Their back is not all that good, but when they break to attack, you see
that they have more men in attack but their back is somehow weakened.”
Odoom also
praised his team’s display and believes they have benefitted immensely from a
good pre season.
“It’s a very
good sign because these boys have gone through a hectic four-week pre season
and this has shown they can do it.”
“We put
pressure on them (Hearts of Oak) for the first 10-15 minutes, hoping to get a
goal and then sit back and play on the break. So you could see that in the
early minutes, we were putting pressure on them and even their goalkeeper could
not send the ball to their strikers. But we had a chance and scored.”
The Tema
Youth-Hearts of Oak clash was rescheduled from Sunday 7th October to
Wednesday 10th October because five players of the Tema based team
were on national duty with the national under 20 team, the Black Satellites
during the weekend.
