Heartless husband remanded for slashing estranged wife

Kwame Adjei was ordered to be held in prison custody when he appeare= d before the Nyinahin Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Mr Augustine Ess= ah. His plea was not taken and would be brought back on Wednesday, Decem= ber 22. Police Detective Inspector Osei Boadi told the court that the accuse= d and the wife, Sophia Kwabia, have been married for six years and they hav= e two children.

Close to six months ago the couple separated but Adjei was not happy=

with the break up. The prosecution said on Monday, December 6, at about 0800 hours, the=

accused traced the woman to the farm where he demanded that they should h= ave sex but she refused. Angered by her refusal, Adjei started slashing her with a machete as=

Sophia shouted for help.

Some farmers nearby responded by rushing to her rescue. They manage= d to overpower him and handed him over to the police. Sophia was sent to the Bibiani Government Hospital, where she has si= nce been on admission.
