Health Services Workers Union congratulates Quashigah

Accra, Feb. 4, GNA – The Health Services Workers Union of the Ghana Trades Union Congress on Friday sent a congratulatory message to Major Courage Quashigah (rtd) on his appointment as the new Minister of Health.

A statement signed by Mr John Gameli Akoto, General Secretary of the Union, said the workers were hopeful that Major Quashigah would bring his dynamism into his new portfolio at a time that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was being implemented to enable it to establish firm roots in the country.

“The Union believes the new Minister would bring to bear his enormous experience to propel the management of the Ghana Health Service to ensure that the NHIS would not fail the nation for a reliable health care delivery”

The statement drew the attention of the Minister to situations at the newly built Government Hospital at Ho, which was embroiled in an alleged serious land dispute inhibiting the smooth operations of the Hospital.

They, therefore, urged the Minister to intervene to enable the Hospital to function efficiently and effectively in the best interest of the people.

The Union urged the Minister to liaise with the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV to use his capacity to settle the unfortunate dispute.
