Health facilities and schools in Mfantseman receive equipment

Kuntu (C/R), Dec. 26, GNA – The Danish Association for International Cooperation, a non-governmental organisation based in Denmark has donated health facility equipment and school materials valued about 5,000 Euros to some health institutions in the Mfantseman District.

The items comprised 47 computers and accessories, 15 sewing machines, nine hospital beds, 12 mattresses, six wheel chairs, two personal lifts, nine bath chairs, five bicycles, three toilet chairs. Mr Ishmael Kwasi Hagan, a citizen of Kuntu near Saltpond who is based in Denmark presented the items on behalf of the organisation. The beneficiary institutions were, Saltpond District Hospital, Finba Hospital at Mankessim, Biriwa Clinic, a private clinic at Abor Junction, Mfantseman District Directorate of Education and Kuntu D/A Junior Secondary School.

Mr Hagan said the donation marked the beginning of greater things to come from the association provided the materials were used judiciously.

Dr Abraham Mantey, Superintendent of the Saltpond District Hospital, commended citizens of Mfantseman District for their commitment to improving conditions at the hospital. He appealed for improvement of water supply to the hospital and also called for the tarring of the road leading to the place. He was grateful to the District Assembly for its prompt response to an urgent request by the hospital authorities for restoration of power after fire had destroyed some electric installations. Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, the District Chief Executive for Mfantseman commended the initiators of programmes aimed at supporting the government’s development agenda.

Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Member Parliament for Mfantseman West and deputy Minister of Tourism and the Modernisation of the Capital City appealed to the people to invest in their children’s education. He said an Information Communication Technology centre had been established at Saltpond to promote modern methods of learning.
