Health director warned youth against unprotected sex

Tepa (Ash), Dec 31, GNA – Mrs Elizabeth Adentwi, Ahafo-Ano North District Director of Health Services, has warned of the spread of HIV/AIDS in the district if the youth do not avoid unprotected sex. She said the attitude of the youth towards sex should be a source of grave concern to all since it was a recipe for contracting the disease. Mrs Adentwi gave the warning at a day’s sensitisation workshop on HIV/AIDS for 20 community volunteers drawn from the district. It was organized by the Association of People Living With HIV/AIDS at Tepa. She said statistics compiled by the district health directorate indicated a continuous increase in the spread of the disease and appealed to the participants to encourage more people to visit the Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre at the Tepa Government Hospital for only 5,000 cedis to know their HIV/AIDS status. Mr John Provinsen, the project Co-ordinator, appealed to disease in the district to join the association for more assistance to enable them live longer. The association also organized an end-of-year party for 12 orphans whose parents died of AIDS in the district.
