Heads of second cycle institutions in the Agona West and Agona East Districts say that they have not received official letters from the Ministry of Education (MOE) directing them not to collect third term fee from final year students.
The Ghana Education Service has directed heads of Senior High School not to collect third term fees from parents but one of the heads told journalists that they cannot act on radio and television instruction without any official letter from the Ghana Education Service or the Ministry of Education.
He said no letter had been brought from the Ministry of Education or the Director General of Ghana Education Service to that effect and that they would comply as soon as a letter is received.
When the team visited Agona East and Agona West Municipal Directorates of Ghana Education Service (GES) officials confirmed that no letter had been received from GES Cape Coast or Accra.
Some of the parents said they were prepared to pay fees but forcing them to pay both second and third terms in bulk would be a financial burden.
They appealed to authorities of schools not to send their children home for fees for the third term since second term fees were paid two weeks ago.
