Headmaster defiles 9-year-old pupil

A 48-year-old headmaster of the St. Charles International School at La in Accra will be arraigned before the domestic violence court today for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old pupil of the school.

The headmaster, Mr Charles Laryea Thebault, is alleged to have started defiling the victim when she was nine-years-old and in class four.

Chief Superintendent Paul Kontomah, Accra Region Crime Officer, told The Finder that the headmaster was arrested three days ago after the police received reports from the girl’s parents.

He told the paper that according to the victim, the headmaster slept with her until she went to primary six.

The parents, who were scared of victimisation, protected the girl till they were able to take her out of the school.

The Finder also gathered from Mr Michael Baabu of Safe Child Ghana, an organisation that prevents injury of children, who got the police to arrest the accused, that they discovered what the headmaster had been doing through his radio programme on Happy FM.

He told the paper that he got a call from the victim on the programme that the headmaster of the school had defiled her and three other girls.

He said through their investigations with the police, they discovered that the man gave scholarships to girls in the neighbourhood and in return got sexual favours from them.

According to the girls, who are between the ages of 11 and 14, Mr Thebault had been having sex with them in turns.
