Head of Susu Company convicted

Techiman (B /A), Jan. 15, GNA – Robert Kwain Bonsu, Managing Director of Yesu Adom Susu Company in Techiman Municipality, has been fined GHC 900 or in default 26 months in prison by a Techiman Circuit Court for stealing.

Bonsu, 68, pleaded guilty to 25 counts of stealing. Police Inspector David Alhassan told the court that the convict employed some Susu agents from August 2007 to December 2009. He said the agents went round on their routine duties to collect sums of money in the name of company but when in December last year some of the customers wanted to withdraw some of their deposits they drew blank.

“The Managing Director asked the customers to come after a week for their monies but when they did Bonsu had vamoosed.” The judge advised the public to be wary of self-seeking micro-finance institutions to avoid being duped.
