Head of “Kick Malaria” congratulates Atta Mills

Accra, Jan. 6, GNA – Mr Kwabena Osei-Bonsu, General Manager of Kick Malaria Out of Africa, a Non-Governmental Organization championing the cause of malaria eradication and peace-building in Ghana, has congratulated Professor John Evans Atta Mills, President-elect for winning the 2008 presidential elections.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday, he said the victory of the President-elect should not be seen as a victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) alone but victory for the nation.

He said elections held in some African countries in recent times had thrown them into chaos and confusion, thereby derailing development. Mr Osei-Bonsu asked Ghanaians to use the elections to demonstrate their maturity for other countries to emulate. He congratulated the Electoral Commission and the people of Ghana for their maturity during and after the election adding that the winners jubilated without any form of confrontation. Mr Osei-Bonsu appealed to the in-coming administration to promote peace and unity for the development of the nation.

He also commended the presidential aspirants for accepting the results in good faith and expressed the hope that the same level of patriotism would be exhibited by all politicians in future elections. The General Manager called on the President-elect to take the issue of malaria seriously to safeguard the health of children who are the country’s future leaders.
