Accra, Nov. 6, GNA- Dr. Erieka Bennet, head of the Diasporan African Forum Mission in Africa, on Monday said the group was working hard to encourage Africans in the Diasporan to return to their roots and help in the development agenda of Africa.
She said the Mission had initiated different projects aimed at bridging the gap between Africans at home and those abroad to build capacity in investment, information technology for the advancement of the continent.
Dr. Bennet said this when she paid a courtesy call on, Nii Tackie Tawiah 111, the Ga Mantse, to officially announce the presence of the Mission in Ghana and also thank him for accommodating the group. She said the group would bring all Africans together and lauded Ghana for the leadership role it had already played in the establishment of the Missions, which has an office at the Du Bois Centre in Accra. Dr. Bennet cautioned the media against reportage that dented the image of Africa adding, “90 per cent of the bad things the world say about Africa are said by Africans; they portray Africa as war-tone and diseased prone, without any hope for development.”
Dr. Desya Meghao, the Liaison for African Affairs for the Mission, said the media was important in the renaissance of Africa. She said the Mission was facilitating the journey of Africans in the Diaspora who wanted to return to Africa and also lobbying on behalf of the continent in term of development.
Nii Tackie Tawiah 111 commended the Mission for visiting Ghana and said he was ready to work with the group to facilitate the homing coming of many Diasporans as possible.
