He Didn’t Add Value” – Choirmaster Blames Kiki Banson for Praye’s Breakup

Eugene Baah, known in showbiz as Choirmaster, has alleged that renowned music executive Kiki Banson was responsible for the unexpected collapse of Praye, one of Ghana’s celebrated music trios.

In an interview on Okay FM’s drive-time show hosted by Nana Romeo, the former Praye Ho Ne Ho did not mince words as he recounted the group’s decline under Banson’s management. According to Choirmaster, Praye had already made a strong name for themselves before the manager’s involvement, boasting of hit records such as Angelina.

“When we brought Kiki Banson on board, we thought he would elevate us,” Choirmaster said. “But he didn’t add any value. In fact, he did nothing to support the group’s progress.”

He described the group’s decision to work with Banson as a strategic move meant to enhance their already rising career. At the time, Praye had gained massive traction with their energetic performances, coordinated branding, and a string of successful songs. Yet, Choirmaster claims things started to fall apart shortly after the management shift.

“Kiki met us at a time when Praye was already shining,” he stressed. “We had already made waves, played major shows, and were in the hearts of Ghanaians. He came in when the table was already set.”

Despite the group’s belief that Banson could offer the guidance and industry networks needed to scale up their brand, Choirmaster suggests the manager failed to meet expectations and did little to drive the group’s momentum forward.

While he didn’t dive into the finer details of how the fallout happened, the artiste left little doubt that he holds Banson partly responsible for the trio’s demise.

Praye, once a household name in Ghana’s music industry, was made up of Choirmaster, Praye Tietia (Cartel Big J), and Praye Tintin. The group dominated the airwaves in the mid-2000s, earning awards and performing at major events across the continent.

Their sudden breakup was met with shock and disappointment by many fans who had grown up on their music and camaraderie. Attempts at a reunion over the years have been largely unsuccessful, further fueling speculation about deep-rooted issues behind the scenes.

Choirmaster’s latest revelation adds a new dimension to the long-standing mystery surrounding the group’s end, potentially reshaping public perception about what really went wrong.
