Ghana Football Association spokesperson Henry Asante Twum has thrown his support behind Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, insisting the shot-stopper has earned his place in the national team through hard work and consistency.
Speaking about recent debates surrounding Asare’s selection, Twum praised the goalkeeper’s dedication and performances, urging fans to recognise his contribution.
“Benjamin Asare has worked for his space and deserves credit for it,” he said.
Asare, who has impressed in recent outings, has faced scrutiny from some sections of the public, but Twum believes criticism is unfair given the goalkeeper’s reliability and steady rise.
The GFA official stressed that selection into the national team is based on merit, form and professionalism, qualities he says Asare has demonstrated.
Support for the goalkeeper has grown in recent weeks, with several analysts also highlighting his composure, shot-stopping and leadership in the penalty area.
With increasing confidence from within the camp, Asare now looks set to play an important role for the Black Stars going forward.
