Hawkers re-surface in Takoradi.

Takoradi, March 26,-GNA-Hawkers have emerged at all vantage points at the Takoradi Central Market, popularly known as market circle. A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the area on Monday indicated that hawkers, who took advantage of the fire disaster on March 15 and displayed their wares on pavements and other open spaces, have refused to re-locate after the market was re-opened.

The Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) in a massive demolition exercise ejected the hawkers on February 9, this year. They could be seen openly displaying their wares, selling, carrying them and running on seeing any guard of the Shama Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA).

Many residents within the metropolis have called on the assembly to ensure that the hawkers are not allowed to return to the pavements.
