Harvester fined for stealing

Twifo Praso (C/R), July 05, GNA – Kofi Asare, a farmer, was on Tuesday fined 500,000.00 cedis by the Twifo Praso magistrate court for stealing eight bunches of palm fruits worth 360,000.00 cedis belonging to the Twifo Oil Palm Plantation (TOPP).

Asare, who pleaded guilty, would go to prison for three months in default.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Henry Tanor told the court that on June 28, Asare and a colleague, Kwamena Mensah, now at large, stole the palm fruits from the TOPP plantations.

He said while they were going home with their booty, members of Mampong Town Development Committee arrested Asare but Kwame Mensah escaped.
