Harvard University gives to Asankrangwa Hospital

Asankrangwa (W/R), May 30, GNA – The Harvard University in the US has donated hospital beds and mattresses worth 78 million cedis to the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital in the Amenfi West District in the Western Region.

Members of the Wassa Citizens Association in the United States facilitated shipment of the items.

Mr Samuel Alberto Tekyi, acting District Chief Executive, presented the gift to the Hospital on Saturday and commended the donors and the Wassa Citizens Association for their commitment and invaluable contribution to the development of the area.

He said the donation would go a long way to enhance heath service delivery in the Hospital and called on resident and non-resident citizens to emulate the donors.

Mr Yaw Asamoah-Bandah, President of the Association said members would continue to contribute their quota to sustained development of the District.

He appealed to the government to remove impediments placed in the way of donors during the clearing of such items at the ports.

Mr Asamoah-Bandah mentioned the provision of a modern kitchen for the Hospital and a headmasters’ bungalow for the Asankrangwa Secondary School as some of the projects undertaken by the Association. Dr. Osei Kofi, Medical Officer in charge of the Hospital, received the items and expressed his gratitude to the donors.
