Hansua K. Twi Primary & JHS attain ‘Model School’ status from GES; facilities set to be transformed

Out of about seventeen (17) selected public schools under pilot to be transformed into Model Schools by the Ghana Education Service in the Techiman Metropolis of Bono East Region, Hansua K. Twi M/A School which was started by the Hansua Community under the leadership of Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour II who doubles as Banmuhene of Techiman Traditional Area has become the first school to be approved and elevated to a Model School status by GES.

Speaking in an interview with Link News during a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting, Madam Comfort Osei the SMC Chairperson of the now officially Hansua K. Twi Model Schools said this elevation will come with a lot of transformation in infrastructure, logistics, human resources and academic works but Parents have an important role to play in making this achievable.

She said as a Model School though it still remains a Public or Government Facility, the children must be fed on the campus therefore the JHS students shall be paying canteen fees to augment the Government’s school-feeding which is only benefiting the Primary pupils and their uniforms shall be changed to suit their new model school status therefore Parents should cooperate with the authorities to implement these.

For his part, Nana John Bosco who spoke on behalf of the PTA Chairman advised Parent to take the education of their children very seriously and also appealed they always try their best to attend school meetings.

Meanwhile, Mr. Michael Akyereko the Headmaster of Hansua K. Twi Model JHS noted that the school is one of the best in the region when it comes to academic performance therefore Parents and Guardians should enroll their children to have the best training because they are no longer an ordinary Government school.

He commended Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour, Chief of Hansua and Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah the MP for Techiman South for supporting the school with infrastructure and logistics but appealed to Government, Cooperate Institutions, organizations and benevolent individuals to come to their aid as urgent expansion is needed to meet their growing population.

Finally, Mr. Obed Anane Frimpong also the Head Teacher at the Primary Department said the School went through stringent processes and scrutiny from the Ghana Education Service before attaining the Model Status therefore Parents must help the authorities to implement whatever discussed and agreed at the PTA meeting in order to make the toils and excellent performance of the Teachers a reality.
