Minister for foreign affairs Hanna Tetteh has confessed she will not turn down an offer to become Vice President should President John Mahama ask her to, although she doubts that is “a possibility”.
The Awutu Senya West MP’s name came up strongly as one of the key contenders of the top job in 2012 and is still coming up on the back of assertions the current Veep, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, may be recusing the position.
Meanwhile, Ms Tetteh, who said she was “not aspiring to be anything more than minister” stated she believed in being an effective member of a team.
“Your question Bola is, should the President consider me for the position would I refuse? I don’t think that’s a possibility,” she told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Wednesday.
“Governance is about a team and the most important thing is being an effective member of that team. It’s about making sure that I keep working and being good at what I do and being valuable to the team.”
Tetteh, 47, said she had become involved in active politics at the age of 33 and acknowledged the political terrain had changed her disposition toward things.
“I recognise that I have been fortunate to be able to have the kind of political career I’ve had at this age and I am grateful for that… Politics has changed me. It’s made me more cautious. It’s made me cynical and skeptical.”
