Gyata-Ba remanded over defilement

A 30-year-old Drinking Bar Operator has been put before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl at Dome in Accra.

Kofi Nsiah aka Gyata-Ba charged with defilement has pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Ms Patricia Quansah has remanded Nsiah into Police custody to reappear on December 1.

According to the Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Agnes Boafo, the complainant is a 29-year-old trader and guardian to the victim.

Prosecution said the victim and the complainant reside at Dome CFC, in Accra.

On October 13, this year at about 1500 hours, Nsiah called the victim under the pretext of sending her to buy gari for him.

The victim responded to the call and went to the accused; however the accused person surprisingly grabbed her and had sexual intercourse with her.

Prosecution said the complainant who was then looking for the victim saw the victim coming out of Nsiah’s room.

When the complainant quizzed her, she narrated her ordeal to her and pointed out that the accused had had sex with her on several occasions.

Prosecution said the victim after narrating the ordeal went to drink parazone (a liquid Bleach substance) and she was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Later a complainant was lodged with the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) where a medical form was given to the complainant to send the victim to the hospital for medical examination.

Prosecution said the crime scene was visited by the Police and during interrogation, Nsiah admitted to the crime.
