GWCL to drag defaulting customers to court

The Eastern Regional Office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has threatened to take legal action against defaulting customers who are reluctant in settling their water consumption debts.

Though not an action the Company takes delight in, it has become necessary, according to them, considering the huge nature of debts owed by, mostly domestic customers of the company, which they say is affecting the company’s operations.

The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Company, Mr. Kojo Daase, made the revelation during an interaction with GBC Sunrise FM’s Mohammed Zunurene on the ‘Ade Akye Abia’ Morning Show.

Mr. Daase, said the delays in the payment of bills is crippling the work and progress of the company as it makes embarking on certain projects and expansions impossible to carry out.

“This year’s revenue collection has been really bad and so we are calling on the general public to endeavor to make payments before the 20th of every month” He said.

Present during the interactions were Mr. Asante, the Regional Productions manager and Mr. Asomani Nyarko, Regional Distribution manager of GWCL.
