Gushiegu people express appreciation to NPP govt

Gushiegu/Karaga (N/R), Oct 23, GNA – The chief and people of Gushiegu have expressed appreciation to the government for undertaking a number of development projects in the area.

“The government has lived up to expectation by releasing more funds from the GETFund, HIPC and the District Assembly Common Fund for development projects in the district since 2001”, they said. Regent of Gushiegu, Naa Yakubu Andani, said this when Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, the Northern Regional Minister, paid a day’s working visit to the district on Saturday.

The minister was on a visit to the Gushiegu and the Karaga districts to inspect development projects.

The minister explained to the people the agenda of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under its “Positive Change Chapter II” and advised the communities to patronize the National Health Insurance Scheme.

Naa Andani said, “We the chiefs and people of Gushiegu wish to take this opportunity to commend the government for the provision of schools, health facilities, safe drinking water and roads”.

They appealed for improved facilities at the Gushiegu District Hospital, dugouts for irrigation and telephone facilities as well as tarring all the roads leading to food production centres to enhance farming.

The Regional Minister assured the people of more development projects and advised them to get in touch constantly with the district assembly for their developmental needs. He reiterated his call on the people of Dagbon to seek lasting solution to conflicts in the area so that NGOs and other cooperate bodies could invest in the north.

The Minister inspected an annex for the district assembly, school projects and the District Education Office funded by the defunct Public Improvement Project that been abandoned. At Karaga the minister inspected similar projects including the new district assembly for Karaga.
