Guinea-Bissau Interim Leader arrives in Accra

Accra, Oct. 16, GNA – Mr Henrique Pereira Rosa, Leader of the Interim Government in Guinea-Bissau, arrived in Accra on Thursday for a day’s visit.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, Executive Secretary of the ECOWAS were at the airport to meet Mr Rosa, who is on a three-nation tour of some West African States.

He is expected to hold talks with President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu.

Mr Rosa, who is leading a three-man delegation, would also brief President Kufuor about the developments in his country. Speaking to newsmen, Mr Rosa commended ECOWAS Chairman, President Kufuor for his efforts to restore peace in Guinea-Bissau after the military take-over on Sunday, September 14 that toppled President Koumba Yala.

Other countries to be visited are Nigeria and Niger. Mr Rosa was appointed as the Interim Leader on September 28 after the military take over by General Verissimo Correia Seabra to form the interim government that would be in office for 18 months to prepare for general elections.
