Guilty SSNIT officials will face 5-year jail term – PPA

The SSNIT software scandal has seen the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) begin a strict audit of all the transactions that took place.

Head of the Authority, Agyening Boateng Agyei, is thus revealing that all persons found guilty in the wake of the audit will be slapped with 5-year jail sentences.

The CEO of the PPA says the authority is currently looking out for “possible infractions to the provisions of the procurement law”.

So far, EOCO has started investigations into the SSNIT scandal with over 5 executives currently being interrogated.

The cost, which was originally $34 million, later ballooned to $66 million and then to $72 million due to maintenance and additional infrastructure.

Meanwhile, attorney general, Gloria Akufo has revealed that she is not rushing to prosecute any corrupt official and that her ministry will put together a strong evidence before proceeding to dish out prosecutions.
