GTWA extends Christmas and New Year message to NRSC

Kumasi, Dec. 29, GNA 96 The Ghana Travellers Welfare Association (GTWA), a private voluntary social organisation, has sent Christmas and New Year message to the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) and other stakeholders in the transport industry for their good work in ensuring reduction of road accidents in the country this year.

It said “While we acknowledge this success and jubilate, care must be taken not to be lured into complacency”.

These were contained in a Christmas and New Year message issued by the association and signed by Mr Anthony Barfour Tutu, Interim President in Kumasi.

The message said it was optimistic that with the modest achievement it must urge them to improve on their performance next year to reduce road accidents.

The association called on its members to support and actively participate in all road safety programmes.

It said “It is very important for all of us especially transport service providers and travellers to be always mindful of the sanctity of human life and act in a manner to reduce road accidents in the country.”

The association appealed to vehicle owners to attend promptly to vehicle defects brought to their notice by drivers to ensure the vehicles were roadworthy.

It urged drivers to avoid over-speeding, overtaking, stopping and parking at wrong places, drunk-driving, while passengers also refrained from giving unnecessary provocative instructions to drivers and noisy arguments likely to disturb drivers.
