GTC invalidates rites by Sakumo Wulomo

Accra, Sept. 23, GNA – The Ga Traditional Council has described on Tuesday described as null and void the confinement of Nii Yaotey Otoga of Amugi We by Sakumo Wulomo Numo Ogbarmey III for installation as Dzasetse of the Ga State.

A statement signed by Mrs. Bernice Bempong, Registrar of the Council said the Council took the decision following receipt of notice that on September 19, Sakumo Wulomo confined Nii Yaotey Otoga as a step to making him the Dzasetse of the Ga State. The statement said: “The rites and ceremonies performed by the Sakumo Wulomo were without merit and had no basis of legitimacy whatsoever in the general structure of the office holdings in the Ga State.”

The statement added that, Sakumo Wulomo was under suspension by the Council and all his activities were therefore considered void. Meanwhile, the Council confirmed that, Nii Tetteh Kwei II, who was incidentally installed by the same Sakumo Wulomo before his suspension, still reigned as the Ga Dzasetse.
