GTB shuts down four hospitality facilities in Ashanti

Kumasi, Nov 29, GNA – The Ghana Tourist Board (GTB) at the weekend shut down four hospitality facilities as part of a special operation launched to enforce standards. These included KB Super Executive Lodge at Anwomaso, Rose Joy Fast Food and Restaurant, Al-He elam Travel and Tours, all in Kumasi and the Vanicular Guest House at Ejisu. Mr Ekow Sampson, the Regional Manager of the Board, said in all, 35 facilities spread across the region, known to be operating without licenses and under sub-standard conditions would be closed down. He said they were determined to bring offenders to justice to help restore some level of sanity in the hospitality industry. He described as totally unacceptable the impunity with which some hotels and restaurants have been operating without regard to the law. “This certainly cannot and would never be allowed to continue”, Mr Sampson said. He urged the public not to patronize facilities that have not been licensed by the GTB. 29 Nov.10
